I’m a sucker for quizzes. Thanks to the 90’s and Seventeen Magazine, I can tell you my personality based on the shape of my lipstick.
I can tell you my dream vacation based on my prom dress color (junior year-grey blue, senior year- butter) and whether I’m a Monica, a Rachel or a Phoebe (Monica). BuzzFeed quizzes? Yes, please. I love Meyers-Briggs (INFJ) and the DISC test.
Thanks to a new book I’m reading I’ve learned I’m also an:
Obliger-Lark-Marathoner-Overbuyer-Simplicity Lover-Opener-Novelty Lover-Promotion Focused-Big Stepper.
It was a lot to learn before 7, but in just a couple of pages I quickly realized this is true. I started Gretchen Rubin’s Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives. Maybe it’s because we are approaching a new school year which feels like another reset, a second January 1. All the slates are clean and possibilities are before me, so I’m trying to be intentional about looking at habits.
Some weren’t new to me- I’m a lark, I’ve known that. I’ve always been a morning person.
I’m also an overbuyer- I want options on hand. What if I need a third stapler? The other two might break…Side note, I’m married to an underbuyer. This difference became a “growth area” for our marriage that 15 years later, we are still hammering out.
But some I’d never considered- I’m a novelty lover (as opposed to familiarity). I almost never re-watch, re-read. I hate ordering the same thing at a restaurant. It bores me.
I’m also a big-stepper. I’d rather make a huge change all at once than many small steps to accomplish something two months later. All or nothing baby.
Anyway, if you are into quizzes and how your personality affects your habits, this is a fabulous resource.
