what I learned in August

Jumping on the train to share 3 things I learned this month:

basil mint dressing

Basil Mint Dressing is the best thing on the Chopt menu. Seriously, I could drink it. Here’s the recipe: 4 lemons, zest of lemon, 1.5 T honey, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, 3T chopped basil, 1 T chopped parsley, 1 T chopped mint, salt and pepper, 1 cup of olive oil.  Make it. Add in some lime or some jalapeno. You will thank me later.

Stress fractures are no fun. What started out as ignored plantar fasciitis escalated to a pretty nasty heel fracture. So now I’m rocking a boot that is no joke hot and itchy. Thankfully, no crutches.

cards

Playing card games with all of my kids is actually fun now. Somehow all have passed across that dreadful Chutes and Ladders bridge into games that actually have strategy. Our favorite games this month are UnoSkip-bo and Farkle (which is a terrible name so we call it Sparkle. Obviously). Many afternoons we pull up around the kitchen table and even my youngest can hang. It’s been a game changer.

That’s our August. What did you learn?

  1. This August I learned:
how to use the word albatross in everyday conversation thanks to my thesaurus of a husband.
Gap still makes great fitting jeans.
My kids are simultaneously acutely fragile and incredibly resilient.
